A6/S6 Roof Racks for sale (2005-2011)

I recently upgraded my 2007 A6 to a 2014 3.0.  I have a factory set of roof racks I used just a few time to carry my kayak.  They are like new and attach solidly to the roof using out-of-sight holes…Continue

Old Cars, New Friends

As of this writing, only a few spots left for the guided tour of the Revs Institute Museum of Cars on December 8th in Naples.  Unfortunately, the group is limited on this tour to be conducted by a lifetime member of the ACNA and also Revs volunteer. It will be on a first reserved first served basis though we will take a waitlist. We already have a few vehicles from the Gulf Coast Region that will drive down and all meet for lunch at 11:15 at Spanky's’ then the tour at 1:00 PM. The museum has an extensive collection of significant Porsches amongst other vehicles and plus an example of a Trabant, which were manufactured in the old Auto Union facility in Zwickau, East Germany after WWII. Admission to the museum is $17.00. A club member on their staff will be giving the tour, which is normally a $25.00 ticket.  RSVP with me at bob@audiclubfl.org immediately for one of the remaining spots to attend this event. In addition, please let me know if you wish to join the group caravanning from the Gulf Coast Region. I will give you the start time and location.

He is waiting for our February drive-by…and getting hungrier by the day….
Gator Drive on the Old Dixie Highway

With the date now set for Saturday, February 2nd the Gold Coast Region’s drive from E3 Customs at 4100 Powerline Road Pompano Beach to Naples Florida is in the planning ledger. We will be taking the old road along the Dixie Highway 41, the original Alligator Ally, including possible side adventures to some real backwater and hardscrabble locations such as Everglades City and maybe even Chokoloskee. Remain dialed in for this adventure. We will get our fill of gambling and possibly gators on this one. No stopping and loitering off road for safety reasons (we are serious here), unlike humans, beware, gators do not practice catch and release. In addition, no plinking at gators allowed, they out of season, which ended on November 1st. Anyway, I believe it is illegal to hunt from the side of the road in Florida. The Gold Coast Region under the leadership of Andreas Regalado has secured reduced rate lodging at the Courtyard Marriott in Naples located at 3250 Tamiami Trail. Just ask for the Audi Club of Florida rate for your evening stay of February 2nd. The drive will be open to both ACNA and Non-ACNA members and non-Audi owners.

Registration for this event will be $20 per ACNA member’s vehicle and must be received by January 29th, 2019. These can be mailed to Andreas Regalado at 8006 SW 185th Terrace Cutler Bay FL  33157-7424. Non-ACNA member registration is $25. Please include name, address, email address, phone number and if a member your ACNA number along with your check made out to Andreas Regalado.

On Saturday, November 17th I met with Gerry at FixxFest in Bradenton. He reported that arrangements were being made for a Christmas Party to be held in December for the region. Details were not ready at the time of printing but would be coming out shortly. He also mentioned that there were some excellent deals available at the two Audi dealerships in Jacksonville on leftover 2018 models. If you are in the market for a 2018 Audi, you should really check out your local Audi dealership, the new models are hitting the sales floor and these fantastic cars are being priced to move out the door. Finally, FixxFest is quite the event and will definitely be on the Audi Club of Florida’s calendar next year.  There were tons of Audis, lots of older ones and many very interesting VW’s. The event also has a drag strip and for a nominal fee, one can check out just how fast your Audi can accelerate.  If I saw it correctly, there was an RS7 that appeared to spank an R8. I could not make out the times but that is what it looked like from the starting line. If wrong, I apologize. Remember in drag racing it is not always what should be the fastest vehicles that wins; a lot has to do with the launch, tires, traction control and lane.

Audi Clearwater Report

I recently visited with one of the ACFL’s partners JB Biewend who is the General Sales Manager at Audi Clearwater and he has the following specials running. AoA may be having a tough time moving iron as was recently reported by their 17% decline in sales for October TY/LY but they Audis are moving at Audi Clearwater and at these prices, one can understand why.

For those looking for Q5’s, there are discounts of  $7,000 off on any in stock 2018 Q5’s plus free Audi Care, an $869 value. In addition, should you be in the market for an A5 Cabrio there is $8,000 off any in stock vehicles.

Quite frankly, these are exceptional deals, possibly exceeding the realm of the AoA VIP program only offered to rich and famous Hollywood and Sports People types. JB can be contacted at 727-312-1220 directly, and he will get you squared away. In addition, if there is a specific Audi your dealership does not seem able to find contact him and he will find it and get it delivered.

….but then there is more

We had no takers and remain in need of some assistance.

It takes a lot of work to run the Audi Club of Florida and frankly we are in need of a two good Audi Owner/Drivers to assist. First off, we need an individual with more than a cursory knowledge of managing websites, internet, Microsoft Word, WordPress and Excel to handle our workload. This would include updating the website, transmission of the newsletter and chapter announcements, maintenance of the emailing list etc. Facebook, the newsletter and website are the chapter’s window to the world. It is how we communicate to not only the 400 plus ACNA members in Florida but the additional 1100 Audi Centric folks who have expressed an interest in the chapter and Audis. With over 1500 combined recipients of the newsletter that is one of the strongest and most valuable communications tools we have. We need an individual who understands the critical nature of this position to the continued communications and growth of the Audi Club of Florida and is willing to make this commitment.

Secondly, we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys writing about their experiences with cars, Audis and the club, an editor and publisher of our newsletter. This would include but not be limited to drives; both here and possibly Europe, reporting and keeping an ear tuned to the latest form AoA and Audi AG and desires to put together and publish the Chapter’s newsletter.  We have again significantly simplified its format for placing on our website and reorganized it so in many ways, what is necessary is to plug in the articles and photos. The individual would be responsible for gathering the latest from the regions and other Audi sources and to place it in the newsletter. In addition, add their own twist and experiences behind the wheel of their cars and ownership over the years.  This communication along with others goes out to the 1500 and growing number of club members and enthusiasts on a monthly basis to keep all informed regarding upcoming events and activities Once again, we need an individual who understands the critical nature of this position to the continued communications and growth of the club.

At some point, we must re-assume part of the work from Bill Cho of National who has been helping us out on the dissemination of the newsletter and announcements over the past few months. His yeoman duty on our account is much appreciated. On behalf of the chapter, thank you, Bill, for your continued assistance on that score.

If we do not fill these two positions the club will become stagnant for no matter how well and what we plan and then eventually execute, we will never be able to effectively get the word out and report on it to our members and the Audi community in the Sunshine state.

If you have an interest in either of these two positions, please drop me a line at  bob@audiclubfl.org. Thank you.

It is that time of the year…

Yes, as many of us look forward to spending Thanksgiving with family and friends shortly to be followed by Christmas or Hanukah, perhaps it is time to step back and ponder how lucky we all really are.  Life does have its setbacks and it does not take much to look around and see that there are many who certainly face equal or greater storms then we may.  As was the case in years past, I have not had any request to list Audis due to a change in life’s circumstances, certainly a good sign regarding the pulse of the club members.

Perhaps this year, we can all dig a bit deeper and give a little extra to find something special to contribute to Toys for Tots or your favorite charity to ensure that some other family or child who is as much a kid at heart as we are with our Audis can enjoy that little extra sparkle in their eyes that comes with this season of light. And with that, on behalf of the ACFL Board of Directors, we wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family, a Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah.

Cheers, Safe Motoring, and hopefully, one of you who purchased a raffle ticket wins.
