Audi Club of Florida Chapter Report for the Quattro Quarterly

2016 Started off with a roar for the Audi Club of Florida; in fact a number of us met at Daytona for the Roar Before the 24 and watched the Audis practice. While this was going on, a few of the boys in Jacksonville were enjoying some German fare at the Schnitzlehaus.  The next week Audi Clearwater had an open house were all had an opportunity to examine and drive the new Audi Q7 and Audi A3 e-tron.  Certainly two new and very impressive vehicles, this was followed by a short drive downtown to the Hofbrauhaus in St Pete for luncheon , Gemütlichkeit and a few door prizes. We finished off January with the Rolex 24 Hour race and an Audi class win by 3 seconds after 24 hours of racing. What a great way to start off the new year for both the ACFL chapter and Audi.

February will have brought another luncheon at the Schnitzlehaus in Jax, a drive to Buddy Freddy’s in Plant City, Cars and Coffee at Reeves Motorsport. Then there is March and the multiple racing rites of spring as celebrated both at the St Pete Grand Prix and the 12 Hours of Sebring with Audis once again on track.  In addition we will be attending a grand opening at Audi Clearwater and putting some finishing touches on one of our signature events for April, the One Green Lap of the Sunshine State MPG Rally

Make plans to join us on April 2nd for this MPG rally starting at Audi South Orlando and finishing at Audi Clearwater.  There will multiple classes determined by vehicle and engine size, and significant prizes for teams with the best MPG. In a recent test run with a member’s Q5 TDI that had 80 K on the clock, 43 MPG was attained so we are expecting some good numbers. This will be the fourth time we have run one of these rallies. Others included drives to Sarasota, Marathon and Key West. This time the ever popular Kinder Rally will also be run and for those adults who think they can handle it, they can participate in the “Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader” For additional information and early registration, which closes on March 26, contact bob@audiclubfl.org.

In addition the First Coast Region in Jax is planning a second event in mid-April, a visit to the Audi Distribution Center, which services Audi’s Southeast region’s JIT replacement part requirements. It is quite the operation and facility.

The prestige event for the month of June will be our 5th 24 Hours of LeMans Watch Party at Reeves Motorsport in Tampa.  Watch for additional information. Last year close to 175 race fans attended this great event.

So if Florida is in your vacation plans give us a shout or check out the ACFL at http://www.audiclubfl.org/ there is usually something interesting going on for those with four ringed platelets in their blood.
