Audi Club of Florida Newsletter for August, 2015

Our members braved storms in Orlando and Sarasota for events in July... Isn't it nice to know you have an Audi when the weather turns nasty? We're keeping the ball rolling with a mix of events this fall, including a track event at Roebling Road and our annual drive to Yalaha. Also coming up is the Audi Motorsport Experience at the Circuit of the Americas. Check out all the upcoming events in Down the Road.

Club Polo shirts are now available through Logo Sportswear. Men and Women's styles are available.
 http://audiclubflorida.logosoftwear.com/

We also have in a shipment of German-flag side mirror covers that fit older model Audi mirrors with flat bezels, perfect for car parades and drives. Available at club events, or contact David Loppert david@audiclubfl.org if you would like to order a set.

If you're interested in getting together with fellow members we'd like to hear from you, especially if you live in South or Southwest Florida. If you're interested in sharing information about an event or becoming a regional contact for the club, contact walter@audiclubfl.org.

A note about our Sarasota meet up from Julie and Michael Clarke:

The Audi Club met for a mid-summer lunch on July 18th in Sarasota at the Alpine Restaurant, ( known by some as Karl Ehmers) on Tamiami Trail. It was hosted by Michael and Julie Clarke. Fifteen members attended from the Tampa Bay Area, Orlando, Ft. Myers/Naples area and Sarasota.

Some members met in St. Petersburg to caravan to Sarasota dodging raindrops along the way. They stopped
at a rest area by the Skyway Bridge for a great photo shoot. Bill Edmond, General Sales Manager for Suncoast Audi, provided Audi ball caps and an Audi car wash bucket filled with products for door prizes. Suncoast Audi hopes to host our Audi Club for events in the future after their move to a new separate Audi facility on Clark Road in a few months.

It was so nice to meet other Audi enthusiasts from Sarasota and other Florida towns. Such an interesting and
friendly group! We look forward to seeing everyone again at the next Audi Club gathering!

New Audi TT RS to Arrive Next Year—With No Manual Transmission

The next Audi TT RS in the US will be what Europe gets - a DSG automatic. Better track times, and depending on your personal preferences, maybe a little less fun on the street.

Details on the 2017 Audi A4

"That familiar-looking body gets a shockingly low coefficient of drag of just 0.23. The improvements in drag come from fine-tuning details down to the placement of the side mirror (now on the door, rather than the triangular window panel) and the contouring of the inner edge of the side mirror, which gets little vortex generating bumps to improve the turbulent airflow in that area, reducing drag. Attention to detail and refinement of a successful design – not boring, lazy repetition."

We will see gas and diesel engines, the awful CVT is gone, and there will be S-models (of course). No word yet on Avants or manual transmissions.

Final Words..

Welcome to our new ACNA members. Our membership numbers continue to grow; we are now well over 375 members, which mean additional critical mass in different regions of the state and hopefully more events and greater participation. Those of you who are new to the ACNA will receive an on boarding note from David Loppert. If you have any questions feel free to drop a line to David. If you have not had a chance yet check out both the ACNA website, and the Audi Club of Florida website. There is a great deal of good information plus some excellent photos of member’s cars.

And.. thank you to our sponsors!
