I recently upgraded my 2007 A6 to a 2014 3.0.  I have a factory set of roof racks I used just a few time to carry my kayak.  They are like new and attach solidly to the roof using out-of-sight holes…Continue

Audi Club of Florida - October Newsletter

In September, Kirk Preiser of AoA joined our meet at the Audi Technical Center and gave an enlightening and enjoyable presentation. It consisted of over two hours of Audi centric information, charts, graphs, and a great Q&A, plus some very lively run on discussion. This annual event continues to afford those who participate some very interesting behind the scenes look and information regarding Audi. Our thanks go out to Kirk for his presentation and Andreas for allowing us to meet at his facility.

October finds a number of events on the schedule, including an early morning breakfast in Clearwater, Hooked on Driving events and a meet at Braman Audi on the east coast and our “Lazy Man’s Tailgate Party” at the historic races in Sebring.

November 17 has Audi chapter members and enthusiasts starting from multiple locations in the Sunshine State, meeting for lunch in Daytona then proceeding on to St Augustine for our “Drive into the Night of Lights” If you plan to participate, I would suggest that you make your reservations at a hotel/motel/B&B of choice for that evening. Participants will be able to pre-register for the event by sending a check made out to the Audi Club of Florida for $20 and please include a note with the number in your party attending and the year and model of your Audi.

Finally, our elections have come and gone. We had three BoD seats open for the next two-year term. Present BoD members who expressed an interest to continue serving will fill two of them. Walter Moore who was filling a vacated seat will continue on the board and Trish Keller will remain on the board. Thank you for your past service and we look forward to your continued involvement in the chapter. The third seat on the board will remain open.

October 26-28
Sebring Historics & ACNA Lazy Man's Tailgate (October 27)

A few years ago, a group of the faithful met at Sebring for manufacturers’ test day and Audi was there. As I recall we even had a glimpse of an A7 test mule. Nevertheless, I digress—we tailgated under a large tree and fun was had by all. Therefore, we plan to meet at our tree for fun and racing at the Sebring Historics—October 26-28. In addition, there should be some R8 LeMans winners taking to the track! Kim and I plan to go Friday – Sunday, since as he says; you need to get there early before they break! This is a great time at Sebring as it is not crowded and you can get to all areas of the track for great viewing. We are staying at the Residence Inn in Sebring. Tickets are $25 for Saturday and $45 for the three days. In addition, there are track “tours” available at $30 a day or $65 all three. Our A4 Avant, the Gnädige Blau Frau had a great time touring the track and nipping at the heels of a Corvette.  http://www.sebringraceway.com/hsr.lasso

Lazy Man’s Tailgate
Love to tailgate with friends but hate the pre and post event prep and clean up? Well you can have the best of both worlds with our lazy man’s tailgate solution! We will be ordering lunch around noon from the Sebring Moose Lodge, which is about a mile from the track. They will have their full menu available to choose from—and Kim and I will even pick it up for you! Just pack your drinks and chairs! The lodge has food and entertainment Friday and Saturday night if anyone would like to go. Please RSVP to Trish by October 24th so I can let the Kitchen Manager know what to expect.  trish@audiclubfl.org

November 17

International Speedway Blvd. Daytona Beach, FL 3211 for a quick lunch. After lunch, as a group, we will head off to St Augustine for an afternoon of on your own sight seeing, exploring, and early Christmas shopping. At 5:45PM we will all meet up again for supper at Barnacle Bill’s ;  14 W. Castillo Dr. St. Augustine, FL nothing special planned except some good eats, camaraderie and of course some early Christmas gifts, courtesy of Kirk Preiser and the chapter. In addition, the restaurant provides a children’s menu. All once again will be on their own after supper to stroll this historic city and enjoy the “Night of Lights” or head home. For those who stay the evening, perhaps on the 18th, we can add an early morning group photo in front of the historic Castillo de San Marco.

As part of an AoA expanded role in and support of the ACNA, there will be a joint leadership summit to be held at Audi’s American headquarters in Herndon VA. It will consist of a full agenda of presentations and the opportunity for the ACNA and its’ chapters to interact with AoA leadership. Being retired and along with that any of my rudimentary skills at creating power points having long since seized from lack of use, and rust, Andreas has been kind enough and offered to help me in the making of the ACFL’s assigned presentation on running social events. I will also be a bit on the underdressed side of the ledger as AoA is not business casual. My Hickey Freemans have long since gone to the Salvation Army.

If you are not presently a member of the ACNA or have let your membership lapse, check out the benefits at http://www.audiclubna.org/about-acna-topmenu-33/membership-benefits... . One of the best is the $500 loyalty reward upon the purchase or lease of a new or certified pre-owned Audi. On Driving an Audi

“Ask the man that drives one” was a slogan for the Packard Car Company from about 1900 through the late 1940’s. It is not just ironic that an individual who is President and Chief Operating Officer of an automotive group with close to 30 dealerships in three states including Florida drives an Audi. With the availability of such high line marques as BMW, Porsche, Jaguar, Mercedes Benz, and Maybach, his choice is the Audi A7.

From time to time, interesting and rare Audis come on to the market. As a service to our members and in the hopes of keeping these significant vehicles within the circle of folks who appreciate them, they, will be listed. One never knows what may drive across these pages such as the following from West Virginia. Had this vehicle been available to Robert Mitchum at the time, Thunder Road may have had a different ending.

One of our extended family members, yes we do have ACFLers in a number of other states and countries besides Florida and the US, has his 2008 Quartz Gray/Espresso Brown S8 with the V10 engine for sale. It has 46 thousand on the clock. For additional information regarding this vehicle, please contact Steve atscrislip@jacksonkelly.com . In the interim, he is patiently waiting for a new factory build.

Then of course, it is always nice to have a traumwagon (dream car) in one’s back pocket.
