July-August Audi Club of Florida Newsletter (2)

Fellow Audi Club of Florida Members and Audi Enthusiasts

Truth in 24 II Private Showing!
Mahaffey Theater, Saint Petersburg August 22nd
See below for details!

Yes, it is election time again, and no, not the one on TV, but the Chapter’s. We will have three two-year positions on the BoD available. If you have an interest, are an “active” (as defined by national, own an Audi) ACNA member for at least a year and a desire to roll up your sleeves and help, please drop me a line at bob@audiclubfl.org. If up to three desire to join the BoD, it will not be necessary to run an election. Should four of you wish to serve, we will then hold an electronic election as is stated in our Chapter By-Laws. Please let me know atbob@audiclubfl.org by August 25th and send me a 300-word statement addressing the question, “Why you wish to run.” Your statements will be published to the ACNA members of the ACFL who in turn will then have the opportunity to vote.

Trish and Kim Keller will be working on a chapter picnic at Highlands Hammock State Park, which is somewhat centrally located. If you have an interest in helping out, Trish can be contacted at trish@audiclubfl.org. We are actually thinking about doing this sometime in the late fall or early spring, when it is a little cooler.

Regional and statewide items up the road:

On August 22nd, a showing of “Truth in 24 II Every Second Counts” at the Mahaffey Theater in St Pete. The Annual visit to the Audi Technical Center in Clearwater in September, the date is to be determined. An additional possibility for November is a meeting in St Augustine. This would include leisurely caravans from multiple points in the state, and a late afternoon or early evening, shore dinner in one of the oldest towns in America. There is a lot to see in St Augustine and certainly, enough stuff to keep the kids interested, between the old fort, alligators, and the lighthouse. Of course, folks can stay over or head home after supper. December will see the Gulf Coast Region joining the folks at Reeves “Toys for Tots”

An invite from the Audi boys of Georgia:

The Audi Club of Georgia is hosting a 3-Day Driving School at the brand new Atlanta Motorsports Park in Dawsonville, Georgia. Atlanta Motorsports Park (AMP) is a 2-mile road course designed by famed Formula One architects, Hermann Tilke with 141 feet of elevation changes, technical course layout, high speed straights and two ‘signature’ corners designed to pay homage to famed European race courses; Belgium’s Spa-Francochamps and the iconic ‘Carousel’ from Germany’s Nürburgring. AMP is a private "members club" track.

The main driving school will be held October 13 and 14, 2012; with a Friday lapping, option available to Advanced Students and Instructors. Additional event information and registration is on www.Motorsportreg.com.

Website and Newsletter Updates

The audiclubfl.com site will be discontinued soon. Along with that, you will no longer be able to reach me a bob@audiclubfl.com. Going forward, the address for all correspondence isbob@audiclubfl.org

Thanks to the hard work of Walter Moore, who along with Andreas brought you our new website and logo, there are now additional changes afoot regarding the newsletter; hopefully, the next issue will be in the new format. It will be a significant improvement and in line with AoA and ANCA format and colors. At least it will be more professional, now for some of the content that is another question.

Classified

From time to time, interesting and rare Audis come on to the market. As a service to our ACNA members and in the hopes of keeping these significant vehicles within the circle of folks who appreciate them, we will list them once in the newsletter and post in our website.
