A6/S6 Roof Racks for sale (2005-2011)

I recently upgraded my 2007 A6 to a 2014 3.0.  I have a factory set of roof racks I used just a few time to carry my kayak.  They are like new and attach solidly to the roof using out-of-sight holes…Continue

Fellow ACNA and ACFL Members

Within two hours of the September newsletter going out we had a winner. The above photo was taken in the Hansa Stadt (city) of Stralsund. The vessel in the background as many correctly pointed out is the Gorch Fock, what threw some off is that she also has a newer sister ship, though that one was launched in the fifties. The newer one calls Kiel its home port and is presently an active training vessel, the one in the photo is a museum ship. Congratulations to Margaret Crabtree who along with her husband recently became members of the ACNA and ACFL. Thanks to all who participated, hope you enjoyed the sleuthing and I am presently trying to figure out another photo contest.

It is that time again and we are looking for a member to work on the newsletter, gather and organize information about upcoming events and help get the word out to Andreas, who manages our web site and Shannon, who handles both our Twitter duties and the e-mailing of the newsletter. We are also looking for folks interested in being a little creative and writing an article or two. The newsletter, Facebook page and web site are critical venues to the club's communications and it is the window to our members and the world's window to the club and who we are. So if you have the desire and the skill let any of our board members listed below know, we all look forward to talking with you. We have about 400 members out there and I am sure we have a few who enjoy not only volunteering but also doing a little creative writing about, cars, drives, adventures behind the wheel or just some of their experiences on the open road that they would like to share with fellow Audi owners..

One last question, some final thoughts and a few links

Since atomic power plants are out of style and diesel unfortunately, has almost become a dirty word except for the trial lawyers where the sound is caching, is the future to be wind, sun, hydro and or coal fired race cars?

Audi targets factory Formula E programme in 2017

In some circles, racing could be considered an affront to one's senses, the roar of un-muffled engines at times can hurt ones ears though even to the un-anointed race fan it is possible to tell the Porsches form the Corvettes just by their sound and so on. And then their was the sounds of silence those beautiful Audi turbo diesels. The acrid white clouds of Castrol along with the smell of burnt oil, but that was taken care of years ago by better engines and piston rings. It has become a cleaner and quieter sport. There is of course all those excess hydrocarbons being spewed into the atmosphere as part of entertainment. Now perhaps the future holds the real sound of silence along with no hydrocarbons, it will just be the whirr of tires and the low hum of wind farms. That drone possibly up to hundreds of miles away from the track, dotting the hills and dales of the landscapes and stretches of seascapes in such places as Narragansett Bay, Long Island Sound and Monterey Bay. All needed in part for the electric grid to provide juice for those new e-powered race cars at Lime Rock and Laguna Seca, It was not all that long ago the NIMBYs were up in arms against wind farms on Long Island Sound and Narragansett Bay as it would ruin their pristine views as they sat on white wicker front porch chairs looking out on the the water off Westport CT, the Vineyard or Hyannis. Unfortunately, everything in life, even powering race cars at some point becomes a trade off.

Now for a couple of good links:

A bit of good news here, looks like the Brits will be getting the TT RS, hopefully we will be added to the list.

And finally for those pining for either a hatch or an Avant, looks like the A5/S5 Sportbacks will be making their debut in 2017.
