I recently upgraded my 2007 A6 to a 2014 3.0.  I have a factory set of roof racks I used just a few time to carry my kayak.  They are like new and attach solidly to the roof using out-of-sight holes…Continue

Christmas Greetings

We have come to the end of another year and all I am sure despite a few set back have a lot to be thankful for.
We are still here for one, enjoying our families, friends and driving our Audis, yes we are all a little older and most of our cars are also but some of us may have new ones and or are looking forward to ordering new ones and are enjoying that experience as well.
It is also a good time to pause and reflect upon how lucky and blessed we are to reside in such a wonderful country with the freedoms and responsibilities we have and to be grateful to those who have served and sacrificed in order that we can peacefully celebrate this Christmas season with friends and family.

Many years ago I spent chilly Christmas day attending the re-enactment of George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River, which led to his early morning surprise victory over the British Mercenaries holding Trenton, New Jersey. A small but important victory on the road to the independence of our country and eventual freedoms we all cherish today. I have never looked at it this way but it was kind of a fitting Christmas present from our first Commander of the continental army the beleaguered and rebellious colonies before he was ever president.

On behalf of the Board of Directors Frank, Kerry, Andreas, and Steve wishing all of you and yours a Joyous Holiday Season, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Kwanza and Good Health for the New Year

Cheers and Safe Motoring

Board of Director Openings

The Audi Club of Florida is still looking for two individuals who would be interested in serving on the board of directors. The positions require at least two years of membership in the ACNA and the willingness to become involved and run some of the following functions in the club. For one, marketing, which would include the onboard welcoming letter to new ACNA members, managing the sale of raffle tickets, and the contribution of Audi centric articles for the monthly newsletter. In addition we are looking for individuals who are interested in working with the regional leads in event planning and the actual execution of events. Whether it is getting half dozen folks together for a luncheon with a view or to view an exhibit of photos of the American road at a Museum, go to the movies, take a short or long drive, attend a race or you name it. A few years back a number of us even took a 5 day drive in Germany, There are many divergent things we as Audi fans have done in the past. It just takes time and the willingness of individuals to plan, organize and execute and it can be done. One additional thought would be a drive to Key West similar to the one executed a number of yours ago. If you have an interest to work, help plan and execute, let me know ( bob@audiclubfl.org) and we will go from there.

Club Kit
All ACNA members should have received an email advertisement from Tee Public selling sweats and T's. Under close observation you will notice our logo was incorrect, it only had 3.5 oranges. If you ordered an item, and it had the incorrect logo, they will replace it with the correct logo, just let them know. I ordered a T shirt and sweat in black and charcoal respectively, nice weight on the garments.

Wanna Go Fast?

Want to take your Audi and take it to its limits without the restrictions? Want to try your inner racer on your own proving grounds?
On January 20-12 you can go to Jumbolair Airport in Ocala and do what you always have dreamed of.
Our friends of Audi Jacksonville (Thanks Stephan!) told us about this wonderful event

What are Audi car enthusiasts buying today?

Other than the R8 certainly a niche car, the allroad almost a cult car and the only wagon Audi sells state side and unless you drop the back seat in your A7 and use it as a 4 door hatch, Audi sales for their sedans have all been lower year to date Read Article Here through November even though they have had record sales for the year. That leaves the A5 the only “enthusiasts” car with increased sales, even the TT’s sales seem to be in a free fall down over 26% year to date. Should the question be posed, Is Audi no longer drawing enthusiasts to the Marque? Of course there are the S and RS iterations of the 4 door sedans present and past and Avants (clearly enthusiasts vehicles but that is begging the question, with Avants not available here).Have the enthusiasts decided to hold on to what they have or decided to spend their hard earned dollars on other marques? Are there insufficient new Audi owners being drawn to the brand’s sedans to increase year to year’s sales until new models are brought out? BMW sales have been in the tank across the board for the entire year except for November so buyers are not headed to the other Bavarian auto maker. Interestingly enough the trend to SUV’s does not seem to be slowing and new buyers are coming to the Audi and BMW brand for those vehicles. Unfortunately, the push to hybrids Audi’s foray into that field in the American market has been a dismal failure. So where are the enthusiasts going? Surly they are still out there but they are not buying sedans or TT’s

Auto clubs consist of primarily enthusiasts and each marque’s club has numerous common threads but is also significantly different as are their cars and enthusiasts. I am not sure that one can totally defines an enthusiasts in one club could work to define that in another but there are certainly some common denominators and one being loyalty to the marque, no matter what its iteration. When one thinks of a what car enthusiasts would drive in the late forties to early sixties it is a bit simpler, one generally is gravitated to the sports cars of the era, mostly two seaters and open aired. Perhaps the paradigm has changed, yes there are still two seaters with rag tops, but they are no longer under or marginally powered. At the other end of the spectrum an enthusiast can now drive some pretty fast 2 ton plus SUV’s to go and carve up country roads And as for the S model four door sedan, their handling crispness now far exceeds that of anything even approaching those sport cars of even some of the high performance two door models of the late 70’ and 80’, let alone being a lot safer to do it in. But the sales figures for sedans do not seem to support that. Yes the paradigm had changed and so has the auto enthusiast, he can now I am beginning to perhaps believe drive a SUV as shown where the increases sales are showing up. Ironically in Germany if it is a SQ5 it is even diesel powered.
